Games such as League of Legends are multi-million dollar earners that are extremely popular in the scene of eSports, but it has not always been that way. What started as a small game has become a largely known competitive eSport. On the non-competitive side, League of Legends has grown to be a multi-million dollar grossing game.The eSports side of the video game allows people to root for teams, players, certain characters, all during a fast paced and intense competition. The League of Legends World Championship was able to fill up a basketball arena, plus 27 million viewers online, numbers that rival the N.B.A.
These players are considered athletes due to the fact that they are constantly being forced to control multiple things as well as deal with the mental pressure equivalent of a pro football player. The whole eSports scene continues to grow as competitive games such as League of Legends, Starcraft, Hearthstone and many more are giving opportunities to reward players of high skill. The ability to play these games competitively allows players to earn upwards of $40K+ a year. The only downside for the athletes are injuries such as carpal tunnel syndrome, as well as other stress-related injuries, but these athletes can not get traditional injuries such as concussions
