Giving a heads up to all earthlings, Stephen Hawking and other prominent scientists
have said that we may be in for some uninvited visitors. Scientists have theorized that aliens can possibly receive a solar invitation to invade Earth via solar radiation.
Aliens may see Earth as the next frontier in interspace real estate, and to find this
resource-filled planet they simply need to follow the dip in solar radiation whenever the planet obstructs solar radiation from the sun. According to a proposal published by astronomers David Kipping and Alex Teachey in the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, aliens may see our planet as an abundance of resources, waiting to be exploited. If this is true, then we may experience what indigenous populations experienced during European conquest. To offset the dip in light that makes our planet noticeable to the far reaches of the Galaxy, we may make a laser that accounts to the dip in solar radiation, making it seem as if there was nothing in front of the sun.
Scientists think that as technology advances, the chances of finding extraterrestrial life
increases. With this chance of finding life comes the possibility that aliens may already know about Earth, or find out about us the same way that we may find about them. This is dangerous as it makes the Earth seem like a planet full of resources, waiting to be exploited. The time period when the Earth is most noticeable in space is when the Earth comes in front of the Sun, creating a dip in the light from the Sun. Debating whether or not we should universally broadcast our presence throughout the galaxy, scientists can meet on the ground that their “work offers humanity a choice, at least for transit events, and we should think about what we want to do" ("Laser Cloaking...").
Stephen Hawking is preparing to avoid intergalactic conquistadors, and it seems as if he wants us to prepare as well.
